about

Indie-Americana solo singer/songwriter NICK YOUNG releases debut full-length CD - 'Truth Is'.

With 'Truth Is', Nick Young offers listeners original songs weaving seamlessly between solo acoustic and a more fully fleshed band sound.

"… The sound is a stripped-down Americana and lush pop smoothie. Yeah, there's a splash of country sour mash too, but it doesn't require boots and a hat."

-Frank DeBlase (Rochester City Newspaper)

"Young writes and performs my favorite kind of music – Americana/Alt-Country/Roots/The New Sincerity/Whatever the Hell You Call It. Formerly the frontman for Rochester’s Burning Daylight, Young just released his first solo album, 'Truth Is'. If you’re fond of pedal steel guitars and twang, and post-Replacements Paul Westerberg, pick it up.

-Nick Zaino (Boston Music Critic)

"Fresh & boisterous alt-country."

-Portland Phoenix

"Songs like "Nicotine & Tar" and "Wait For Me" simmer with a back-porch Southern vibe, while tunes like "Gone" are raw Americana, Young's indie-rock voice gives the album a contrasting feel. On paper, you'd never expect it to make sense. But the truth is, it works pretty well."

-Rochester Democrat & Chronicle

"The constant is Nick's voice, bearing the strain of injury and betrayal, yet enduring and resilient, a marriage of lyric and voice appealing to both the determined and the suicidal."

-Livingston County News

"Contagious songs in the alt-country mode, sounding like a cross between Wilco, the Old 97's and vintage Soul Asylum."

-Freetime Magazine

"If you follow the alt-country ladder up from Gram Parsons to Wilco, at the very top you might find Nick Young. Nick has written a lot of great songs, and he plays them with a fiery, raw energy that takes the genre further, into a deeper, darker place."

-Chris Trapper (Singer/Songwriter, The Push Stars)

"Nick Young's songwriting has maturity that belies his relative youth. The beauty is its confidence and belief in, first and foremost, the song.”

–Mike Nelson (North Country Roots Music Report)

about

Nick Cory Young Rochester, New York

My new album "Crow Got Drunk" is both a love letter to 90's alternative rock/alternative country and a tribute to my maternal grandfather George Taylor, the best storyteller I've ever known. I hope you dig it.
